Short C.V.

Prof. Juergen Kaehler, was Professor of Economics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) from April 1999 to March 2019; since April 2019, he is Senior Professor of Economics at FAU. He studied Journalism at the Cologne School – Institute for Journalism and, concurrently, Economics and Sociology at the University of Cologne. At the University of Essex, he earned a Diploma in Social Science Data Analysis. After graduaten, he worked as a research assistant, initially at the Department of Public Finance at the University of Cologne and later at the Chair of Economics and Econometrics at the University of Mannheim. From 1991 to 1994 he was employed at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), where he established and headed the Research Department ‘International Financial Markets and Financial Management’. He then spent five years as a Lecturer in Finance and Statistics at the University of Exeter. He received his PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1995 with a thesis on ‘Stochastic Models of Exchange-Rate Dynamics and Their Implications for the Pricing of Foreign-Currency Options’. Prof. Kaehler has been a visiting professor at the University of Exeter and at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, South Africa). He taught courses in economics, finance and econometrics at universities in Mexico, South Africa, Ukraine, Turkey, Chile and the Netherlands. In June 2023, the Kharkiv National Economic University in Ukraine awarded him an honorary professorship.
