Short C.V.

Prof. Juergen Kaehler, PhD, has been Professor of Economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg since April 1999. He studied Journalism at the Cologne School – Institute for Journalism and, at the same time, Economics and Sociology at the University of Cologne. At the University of Essex, he obtained a Diploma in Social Science Data Analysis. After his studies, he worked as a research assistant first at the Department of Public Finance at the University of Cologne and later at the Chair of Econometrics at the University of Mannheim. From 1991 to 1994 he was employed at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), where he established and headed the Research Department ‘International Financial Markets and Financial Management’. He was then Lecturer in Finance and Statistics at the University of Exeter for five years. He received his PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1995 with a thesis on ‘Stochastic Models of Exchange-Rate Dynamics and Their Implications for the Pricing of Foreign-Currency Options’. Prof. Kaehler has been a visiting professor at the University of Exeter and at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, South Africa). He has taught courses in economics, finance and econometrics at universities in Mexico, South Africa, Ukraine, Turkey, Chile and the Netherlands.
