Christine Binzel will fill the chair for Economy and Society of the Middle East

Christine Binzel will be joining the Institute of Economics as a Professor of Economics, focusing on the Economy and Society of the Middle East, on October 1, 2017. She is a member of the Research Committee on Development Economics of the German Economic Association, Association for Analytic Learning about Islam and Muslim Societies  (AALIMS) Faculty Fellow, Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) Research Affiliate and IZA (Institute of Labor Economics) Research Fellow. Her research interests are in Development Economics, Applied Microeconomics, and Behavioral Economics, with a particular focus on the Middle East and North Africa. Her research has been published in leading economic journals such as the Economic Journal or Journal of Development Economics.
